Askham Bryan College is an Agricultural College based near York. Unfortunately they had an accident where an animal trailer had slipped into a slurry lagoon and tore a hole in the Buytl liner such that slurry was leaching into the ground.

As the lagoon had to be kept online during the repair, this made for quite a difficult job.

Initially the lagoon had to be pumped out, which took several days, and because the lagoon was in constant use, new material was coming in all the time.

We used a plastic pontoon as our working area, so as not to create further damage to the liner and also created a small dam around the working area to keep new slurry back away whilst the repair was carried out.

Once the slurry had been drained we jet washed an area around the damage and then one of our partner contractors welded a 1 metre diameter patch over the damaged area. Once the repair has been carried out, the lagoon was refilled and could then go back to it’s normal use.
